One of the rarer forms of weaponry found among Numerian ruins is the railgun labeled “Slane & Rohrsch Revision 2”. Less fanciful than the graviton railgun that shoots pebble-sized metallic scrap at relativistic speeds, the S&R R2 opts for the lower tech solution of firing a much larger copper-jacketed adamantine dart at mere hypersonic speeds. While this means the user has to carry both propellant (in the form of battery charges) and ammunition similar to a Golarion-native firearm, the darts give the weapon better penetrating power and the resulting weapon is larger but more ergonomic. Shots fired from a S&R R2 railgun bypass an object’s first 20 points of hardness, and can completely penetrate targets without hardness.
When making an attack with a railgun, make a single attack roll and compare that result to the ACs of all creatures in a line extending out to the weapon’s maximum range. This weapon damages all targets with an AC equal to or lower than the attack roll. However, if the attack’s damage fails to penetrate any target’s hardness or damage reduction, this shot is blocked and cannot damage targets that are farther away.
Special: Any creature standing next to a S&R R2 when it fires (defined as the two squares perpendicular to the line of effect) take 1d6 points of fire damage as the barrel’s baffles direct the weapon’s fireball and pressure wave away from the wielder; such creatures may make a DC 15 Reflex save for half damage.
Due to the S&R R2’s ammunition being made primarily of adamantine, its rail darts are always considered masterwork ammunition.
†Slow recharge: A slow recharge weapon can only fire once per round and cannot make iterative attacks, but unlike a slow-firing weapon it does not need a full-round action to fire, as the weapon automatically readies itself between shots.
[Note: This means it can be used with gunslinger deeds such as targeting and dead shot, despite it only firing once.]
††Scope: This weapon features an integrated spyglass-sight mounted on it to improve accuracy at longer ranges. Scopes reduce the penalty for ranged attacks by 1 for each range increment, as if the user had the Far Shot feat. If the user already had the Far Shot feat, instead the scope improves the weapon’s range increment by 50%.
